Dear Santa

I’ve been a good dog all year – well, I’ve tried to be good – well, most of the time anyway. Since my family chose me from the rescue kennels I have been so keen to please them that I’ve eaten all my dinners, spent hours looking adoringly at my owner, allowed the children to jump all over me (they are cute and they do feed me treats when Mum’s not looking but sometimes I feel a bit cuddled out) and gone for a walk whenever they ask me to (that one was really tough!).

I did get a little overexcited when they got the Christmas decorations out (well, I’d never seen them before and they were so sparkly). I wagged my tail so enthusiastically that I knocked a couple of baubles off the tree so I gave them my most pathetic puppy in the pound look and I think I got away with it.

Here are my Christmas wishes:

A new bed – I really didn’t mean to tear up the last one … I just wanted to see what was inside and then I got carried away and before I knew it the kitchen looked like a winter wonderland. I thought it was very pretty but Mum seemed to be a bit annoyed when she came home.

A huge bag of my favourite dog biscuits – Mum only lets me have one at a time but I feel sure she’d let me have more if she wasn’t worried they would run out. If you haven’t got one of those perhaps I could have a massive bone with a ribbon tied round it like they have in the films …

Could you bring something nice for the cat too? I mean, not too nice because he’s already snooty enough, but occasionally when he’s fast asleep he lets me in the same room as him and deep down I do quite like him, so maybe a little toy for him or one of those cat nip treats he seems to be obsessed with.

I don’t know how you’ll feel about this but I actually have loads of toys so what I’d like most in the whole world is a real squirrel or bunny. They are so much more fun than the toy ones – I’d even take a rat if you have one.

Anyway Santa, you probably think that’s more than enough for a dog like me but if I could just ask for one more thing, if it’s possible could you help any of the strays to find a home with a lovely family like mine who will look after them all year round, take them for walks, feed them and love them. That would be amazing!

Lots of love and licks
From Bruiser

(OK that’s not what my family call me – they call me Fluffy but it’s so embarrassing, what with the situation with the cat and all, I thought I’d try a different image.)
