A Winter Wonderland!

The festive period is fast approaching and whilst we have had a mild 2016 it is worth remembering that the UK does have very unpredictable weather patterns and the possibility of snow over Christmas is ever more likely.

At this time of year with Christmas just a couple of weeks away, the garden is usually the last thing on people’s minds. Whilst winter foliage, fir trees and wreaths are in abundance decorating houses and doors, the general maintenance of your outdoor space takes a back seat. However, it is important to prepare your garden for the winter weather and to take action before the bad weather strikes.

Many of the plants that are grown in our gardens are perfectly hardy and therefore not damaged by low temperatures but you can still take precautions to give your garden extra protection against snowfall.

Basic maintenance includes repairing or replacing tiles on shed roofs, mending broken glass panes in greenhouses, covering pools and placing a small ball in them to prevent total freezing over and moving containers into greenhouses and conservatories.

All of these will help when the cold snap abates and you are able to take stock of your garden and assess any damage.

At England Landscapes we have a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of landscaping and gardening. Why not bring in the New Year with a new garden project? If you would like any help or advice please give us a call and we can arrange a visit to discuss your requirements.

All that remains is to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all here at England Landscapes.
